North-East Naga Traders (NNT) private Ltd supported by NABARD, government of Nagaland inaugurated its cooperate office and the official website on Friday at NNT private Ltd office Dimapur.
Managing director, K Kathi Chishi, gave a brief introduction about North-East Naga Traders Pvt. Ltd (NNT), a nationally recognized agro-based company.
He said NNT was formed in 2011 as a social initiative, and that North-East Naga Traders Pvt. Ltd came into being as a result of a series of awareness campaigns on agriculture market started since 2009 with Nagaland State Marketing Board (NSMB) and Agriculture Production Marketing Committees (APMC) in Nagaland.
He said seeing the deplorable state of agriculture market in Nagaland marred by exploitation of price and ignorance of farmers taken advantage by companies, NNT Pvt Ltd was started to cater to the needs of farmers and create awareness to farmers on market trends.
He said farmers face difficulty to grow crops in commercial scale despite having enough potential.
Keeping in mind the various difficulties faced by farmers, NNT Pvt Ltd seeks to disseminate to farmers on demand and supply of products, price risk and credit risk factors, price of commodities across the country, cost effective factors and eventually provide a fair, transparent and efficient trading platform to all participants.
He further said the company was an incorporation of the Companies Act, 1956 and is a trading cum clearing member of Indian Commodity Exchange (ICEX) and shares a PPP mode with the Government of Nagaland with direct linkages with all 18 APMCs based across the state.

He said a franchisee of North-East Naga Traders Pvt. Ltd (NNT) can be set up in any locality in Nagaland with a starting amount of `1.50 lakhs onwards.
The NNT Pvt Ltd aims to set up outlets in local areas manned by local entrepreneurs where products for sale such as essential commodities and other local-made commodities would be supplied through delivery system by the company with value added services which would be on frequent basis.
An attractive component of the package is environment friendly e-bikes for home delivery service on order.
He further said, at present, NNT deals with all agricultural products, crude oil, iron ore and gold and silver as certified by Government of India.
He said North-East Naga Traders Pvt. Ltd (NNT) would be commencing its franchise service with 10 franchisees starting from Dimapur, and later would expand to other major districts and give franchisee to entrepreneurs all over Nagaland in the next 2-3 years.
Talking to media persons, HK Khulu said North East Naga traders supported by NSAMB, which is a government of Nagaland undertaking (support given through hardware), is the first of its kind for online trading, particularly for agriculture products
He said online trading would be more convenient for the farmers and people to monitor events taking place globally,
He congratulated ICEX for setting up sticker boards in every district to bring awareness to the farmer which is something new, and asserted that Dimapur being a commercial centre would pick up fast and gradually hoped the whole state would be covered.
“Farmers along with entrepreneurs and traders will have a place to go where they will get solid information from Dimapur itself on trading, world scenario of production sale”, added Khulu.
Khulu also revealed the government was quite excited as things were going in the right direction with the support from ICEX Kolkata, adding the chain value of marketing in the state was weak with more than 40 percent of horticultural products going wasted.
Khulu said grain production was low in the state and that 80% of the population are dependent on agriculture. He further disclosed NSAMB would be taking active part to take things forward for agricultural production at commercial level and opined that if the economy of the state was to grow, then agriculture has to grow at a fast rate.
