DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN) extended its sincere appreciation to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) led by its “charismatic convener Rev. Dr Wati Aier”, for facilitating the historic meetings among the Naga political groups on 22nd, 24th, 25th and 26th August 2011. “GPRN/NSCN believes that the extensive meeting of the Naga political groups, resulting in the signing of Naga Concordant, is a future-defining moral victory for the entire Naga people”, stated a press note issued by the MIP while duly acknowledging the “courage and commitment of FNR”.
The GPRN/NSCN pointed out that since its inception, the FNR had “manoeuvred the pitfalls of political inclinations which, unfortunately, became the Achilles Heel for many Naga frontal organisations in the past”. It also stated that the coming months will be “most challenging for FNR, Naga political leaders and the Nagas in general”. “GPRN/NSCN believes that it is time to prove to the world that Nagas can shed their differences to chart a shared future”.
GPRN/NSCN also acknowledged the prayer support of World Baptist Alliance, The Quakers, Shisha Hoho, prayer houses, churches of all denominations in Nagaland and outside, whose unceasing prayers helped “a miracle happen” at Niathu Resort, Nagaland. The beautifully crafted heartrending patriotic music presented by Oriental Theological College students throughout the four day highest level meeting is unforgettable, it further stated.
The serene atmosphere at Niathu Resort, the hospitality and efficiency on offer is appreciated, it stated.
The GPRN/NSCN also appreciated Nagaland police escort party, security officers and men at the venue, S.P and District administration, for the efficiency displayed during the highest level meet. GPRN/NSCN also appreciated the print and electronic media for reflecting the pulse of the Naga people to the world.
“The signing of Naga Concordant by six Naga leaders, hopefully, will help the Indian Government understand that Naga political issue is neither a petty Naga problem arising out of economic imbalance nor a movement shouldered by remnant Naga nationalists. The undying desire of millions of Nagas was manifested by the Naga political leaders through Naga Concordant, on the strength of Naga history and inalienable political right”, it stated.
