ITANAGAR: Separate incidents of fire have gutted 26 houses in Arunachal Pradesh, destroying property worth crores in the first quarter of January.
As many as 17 houses were affected by a fire at Pangin town last Thursday. No casualties were reported.
A fire brigade from Aalo Town, some 32 kms from Pangin, had reached the spot but could save little as by then properties were destroyed, revealed the report.
Another report from Upper Subansiri district on Saturday said nine houses were gutted in three fire incidents at Daporijo and Dumporijo areas in the first week of January. On January 8, two houses were completely destroyed at upper forest colony, Daporijo. Property worth lakhs was reduced to ashes as fire tenders could not reach the spot due to inaccessible roads. Earlier on January 2, a devastating fire devoured six houses near GREF colony, Daporijo. In the Dumporijo market area, a house was burnt down on January 1.
