Manipur youth brutally assaulted in Delhi

A 26-year-old northeast boy was brutally assaulted by the manager of a BPO where he worked along with five men on Wednesday night in Kirti Nagar,New Delhi

The incident occurred at the third floor of the office building around 11pm. The victim’s left hand was fractured. He sustained injuries on his right leg, left waist and on his face.

Recounting the harrowing experience victim told our reporter that he was working in a BPO named Consumer Loan in Kirti Nagar for the last 10 months and he had left the company three days ago.

“I was called by our manager Mr Ankur on Wednesday night to collect salary at the office. The moment I entered the gate, he locked the entrance , the victim alleged that at that moment the Manager was accompanied by an unknown person who looked like a bouncer. The Victim further narrated that ‘they brought me into the third floor. As soon as we entered the room, Ankur suddenly snatched away my mobile phone and my laptop. Then he began hitting repeatedly on my head with blunt object. I shielded my face with my both hands. He hit me so hard that my left hand got fractured then and there. Not only he beat me, the other men who were in the fourth floor joined in and mercilessly attacked me with blunt objects and wooden sticks,” the victim recounted.

Terming the attack, racial the victim who hails from Manipur added that there were racial overtones to the attack and they specifically said , “We will finish you and we will kill all the Nepalese present in this office’ they allegedly also thratened to take him to an isolated place and kill him ”.
After the assault the culprits went to the other room to consume liquor and the Manipuri Victim taking advantage of this situation ran out of the place but not before he had locked the culprits from outside .This quick thinking ensured that not only the-goons could not chase him but also they couldn’t escape when the police eventually came to arrest them.

After the police were intimated they arrested all the accused from the location.Not suprisingly the arrested instead accused the victim of attacking them but such ridiculous claims were refuted by the police and a case has been filed against them at the Kirti Nagar Police station .
The Police have said that they are still awaiting for the Medical report. Depending on the reports, necessary sections will be added in the FIR,” meanwhile some groups of northeast youths visited the Victim at the police station. The victim also submitted complaint letter demanding the addition of SC/ST Act in the FIR.
The victim is the lone breadwinner in the family. They lives in south Delhi with her ailing mother and her elder sister, who looks after their ailing mother. They all hails from Manipur.
This is one of the many such assaults on people from Northeast in the National Capital.
