Nagaland Tribe Council to launch on October 12

Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) comprising of all recognized tribes of Nagaland state, with its headquarters in Kohima, will be formally launched on October 12 in the state capital.

This was disclosed after a meeting of the representatives of all the tribes, held in Hotel Saramati here Saturday.

Earlier, a Search Committee was constituted for selection of candidates for election as office bearers of NTC and will submit the list   on or before September 30.

At the meeting, a letter from Angami Public Organization (APO), expressing full support to formation of any organization for Nagas of Nagaland, was read out.

NTC convenor Pius reasserted that there should be no confusion over formation of NTC, as it legally represented Nagas of Nagaland and would be confined within the boundaries of Nagaland state.

He also maintained that NTC has no conflict with Naga Hoho which represent Nagas from other territorial or geographical areas, or with any other organizations.

He also asserted that there was no hidden agenda in formation of NTC as it was for Naga tribes covered under 371 (A).

Other speakers also asserted that NTC provide a common platform  for Nagas of Nagaland and would take up relevant issues pertaining to the rights of Nagas of Nagaland state.

NTC comprises of all 14 aboriginal Naga tribes of Nagaland, who live in the present geographical areas now under Nagaland state, since time immemorial.

At the marathon meeting, representatives from various tribal organizations asserted that NTC did not need approval from any organizations as it stood for the rights of the Nagas of Nagaland.
