19 food product names that are just so wrong!

For global companies, it’s important to plan product names well enough so embarrassing typos can be avoided.  Unfortunately, these companies didn’t think their foodstuff names all the way through, so some vital pieces got lost in translation.

Who know that so many languages could get food names confused with the word “rape?”

“Tastes Like Grandma’s!” and “Tastes Like Grandma” have two very different meanings. Cannibalism isn’t nearly as tasty as Grandma’s homemade jam. If you ever plan on selling food overseas, make sure to translate the name forwards and backwards. You don’t want to advertise rape or cannibalism, no matter how quickly you’d get featured on the nightly news.

Share these hilarious food name fails with others, it’ll make them LOL.

Father refuses to accept two-headed baby daughter in Haryana

This is a story of one heart and two souls. While one cries the other is fast asleep. This baby girl with two heads was born to a poor family in Sonepat district of Haryana on Thursday and since then she has caught the whole world's attention.

The condition of the child is called 'dicephalus parapagus'. It is a very rare case and the child is striving for its survival, and the doctors in Sonepat have referred the baby to AIIMS; she is now under observation in the premier hospital.

However, it may not be possible to separate the twins because they share the same body. "The baby girl has two heads, two necks and two spines, but only one body, one lung for each head, two separate oesophaguses and trachea, a single stomach and heart. Most of the vital organs are shared," said Dr Amit Gupta, medical director of Sonepat's Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital, where the conjoined twins were born.

"The chances of baby's survival will become clearer once feeding of the child starts, and also on the functioning of the lungs and the heart. The right lung is functioning well in comparison to the left one, and the whole right side of the child is functioning well," Gupta told Mail Today. When By Mansi Tewari in Sonepat the feeding begins, there should be harmony between the two nervous systems of the two sides in relation with the gastrointestinal system. If the child survives it may still be limping, Gupta said.

The mother is recovering at Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital.

It was two weeks ago when gynaecologist Dr Shikha Malik was shocked while checking the ultrasound reports of the patient (mother of the child). "It was on February 24 that the patient came to meet me and was into her 8th month of pregnancy. The mother had not gone through any tests earlier as she couldn't afford an ultrasound test. And it was then we broke the news to the family that there are conjoined twins to be born, and that their babies hadn't completely separated," Malik said.

Even when the doctors got ready for the Caesarean section, they were worried about the safety of the mother. "In 50 per cent of such cases the child is stillborn. Only 35 per cent survive till the first day. However, this child has shown her determination and has survived over 24 hours now," Gupta said.

The baby weighed about 3.5 kg on birth and has kept all the doctors on alert. Her parents are disturbed and at the moment finding it difficult to face the situation. The mother, Urmila Sharma, 28, is recovering at Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital. She had earlier delivered two children without any complication. The father, who works as a labourer in a bicycle factory in Sonepat and earns a meagre salary, is reportedly not ready to accept the baby.

Nun gives birth in Italy, names baby Francis: Reports

ROME: A Salvadorean nun who said she had no idea she was pregnant gave birth in Italy this week after she felt stomach cramps in her convent and was rushed to hospital, Italian media reported on Friday. The 31-year-old mother and her baby boy, who weighs 3.5 kilogram (nine pounds), are doing well and other new mothers in Rieti hospital have begun collecting clothes and donations for her, the reports said.

"I did not know I was pregnant. I only felt a stomach pain," the nun was quoted as saying at the hospital, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

La Repubblica said she gave birth on Wednesday.

ANSA said the nun had named her baby Francesco (Francis) -- also the pope's chosen title and one of the most popular names in Italy, where St Francis of Assisi is the much-loved national patron saint.

The hospital could not be reached for comment.

The nun belongs to the "Little Disciples of Jesus" convent in Campomoro near Rieti, which manages an old people's home and reports said she would keep the baby.

Her fellow nuns were quoted saying they were "very surprised".

Pilot tells of near-miss with UFO near Heathrow Airport

The captain claimed the ‘metallic’ bright silver ‘cigar/rugby ball-like’ UFO came within a few feet of his A320 Airbus.

He spotted the object travelling towards the jet out of a left-hand side cockpit window.

The close encounter took place about 20 miles west of Heathrow, although the Airbus is not believed to have taken off from the airport.

A report into the incident states: ‘He (the pilot) was under the apprehension that they were on collision course with no time to react.

‘His immediate reaction was to duck to the right and reach over to alert the FO (first officer); there was no time to talk to alert him.

‘The captain was fully expecting to experience some kind of impact with a conflicting aircraft.’

Immediately after the incident the pilot checked the aircraft’s instruments and reported it to air traffic control but there was no sign of the UFO.

Meteorological balloons and other aircraft in the area were all ruled out during an investigation by the UK Airprox Board, which looks into near misses in British airspace.

The report found that it was ‘not possible to trace the object or determine the likely cause of the sighting’, which took place at about 6:30pm on July 13 last year.

Dr David Clarke, the UFO consultant for the National Archives, told the Telegraph: ‘This latest sighting is interesting, because it is detailed and clear. These pilots don’t file these reports for something and nothing. There was obviously something there.’

The Ministry of Defence closed its UFO desk and hotline in 2009.

Obamas' Christmas gift for godmother delivered to wrong family

(Reuters) - A Chicago-area family got a belated Christmas surprise this week - a book of family photos from the White House meant for the Obama girls' godmother, according to media reports and the White House.

Alane Church, who lives north of Chicago, told NBC's "Today" show on Thursday that her family got a box of Christmas presents a week late from an uncle in New York. When they opened it, they found an extra gift at the bottom - a "beautiful personal" book.

Church said the gifts appeared to have been re-boxed by the U.S. Postal Service.

The photo book was addressed to "Mama Kaye + Papa Wellington from Barack, Michelle + the girls." "Mama Kaye" is the Obama girls' godmother, Eleanor Kaye Wilson, who lives in the south Chicago suburbs.

"It's very special, very special - private moments of their year of 2013 together," said Church. She said the gift would be sent on to Wilson.

A White House official acknowledged the mis-delivered gift.

"There was an errant delivery, but we're appreciative of the effort under way to make sure the gift arrives at the intended destination soon," the official said in an e-mail.

Neither Wilson nor Church could independently be reached for comment.

Sue Brennan, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Service, said in an e-mail that the agency "takes issues like this very seriously and we are investigating the matter."

Man spends £1,000 trying to win free Nando’s for life before realising competition has closed

It always pays to read the small print.

Christopher Poole found that out the hard way after spending £1,000 trying to win a coveted Nando’s black card, guaranteeing free meals for life, only to realise the competition had closed.

ad_123672098The chicken chain ran a promotion over two years ago offering a black card to anyone who could prove they had eaten at every one of the firm’s 1,031 stores around the world.

Mr Poole only realised the competition had ended after visiting 85 branches in the UK and spending £1,000 along the way.

‘I heard about this competition to eat at every Nando’s branch and thought it sounded right up my street,’ the Daily Mail quotes the 26-year-old as saying.

‘I love chicken and eat in there a couple of nights a week anyway, so decided to embrace the challenge. I’d do anything to get my hands on a card giving me free chicken.’

It wasn’t all bad news for Mr Poole, who gained a stone during his challenge and even came up with his own ‘Nando’s pose’ – involving imitating a cockerel – as the restaurant chain has agreed to honour the old promotion if he can complete the global challenge.
‘Once I have done the UK, I am then going to move onto Australia where there are around 300 [restaurants]. I am hoping to do as many as I can in just 40 days – I plan on eating Nando’s for every meal,’ he declared.

‘I have started to receive requests from random people who invite me to join them for food in their local Nando’s.

‘I’ve been invited on about ten Nan-dates so far, and it’s great to meet new people who love their food as much as I do.’

Pledging to reward Mr Poole for his efforts, a Nando’s spokesman said: ‘There are now so many Nando’s worldwide, that we don’t run the challenge any more.

‘However, if Christopher Poole completes his attempt, we will happily honour our original promise and give him free Nando’s for life.’

Bihar boy Throws Boiling Water On Girl For Unfriending Him On Facebook

A spurned teen took revenge on a girl by burning her face with boiling water after she unfriended him on Facebook, according to police in India.

The Independent reports that the boy, from Bihar state in northern India, came to the 15-year-old victim's house on Wednesday and said he had left his I.D. in the home. He then allegedly shoved the girl's mother aside and poured water on the victim's face.

The Times of India reported that the girl was taken to a hospital where she's being treated for burns to 20 percent of her face including her right cheek and right side of her neck.

Other outlets have identified the boy, but The Huffington Post has not because he is a minor and has not been charged as an adult. Police are currently looking for him after he fled, following the incident. He is an undergraduate student at a Muzaffarpur college.

In a translation of a statement to police obtained by the Hindustan Times, the victim said, "My father is a teacher and he (the accused) used to come for tuitions to our home. I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then. But of late he had become abusive and so I unfriended him last week."

Gawker reports that "with Facebook steadily becoming the exclusive means of communication among teens in India, tragic news stories involving young Indian Facebook users are similarly on the rise."

In October, a 17-year-old Indian girl reportedly committed suicide after her parents banned her from Facebook, according to the Indo-Asian News Service.

Celebrities we lost in 2013 (according to the internet)

The internet: being tasteful since 1995.

Every year there are a surprising number of celebrity death hoaxes – where the world wide web is suddenly abuzz with reports of the demise of someone famous – and 2013 was no different. Here’s a round-up of those we lost (if you believed the rumours)…

Megan Fox

Megan Fox: Verifiably alive (Picture: AP)
Megan kicked off a star-studded year of fake celebrity deaths at the beginning of January when she was forced to join Twitter after ‘RIP Megan Fox’ began trending. She soon put the record straight and has been alive ever since.

Cher

Cher is still going strong (Picture: AP)

Surely the greatest example of mistaken celebrity death this year, Cher’s supposed demise arose from a hashtag misreading after Margaret Thatcher died. ‘Now Thatcher’s dead’ came out as ‘Now that Cher’s dead’ and fans of fierce auto-tuning the world over were sent into a panic.

Chris Brown

(FILES)Singer Chris Brown arrives for the 21st Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation's Oscar Viewing Party in this February 24, 2013 file photo in Hollywood, California. US singer Chris Brown has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run incident, police said June 25, 2013, but the star claimed the other driver involved was trying to make money from him. Brown, who is still on probation for his notorious 2009 assault on then girlfriend Rihanna, took to Twitter to proclaim his innocence over the minor traffic accident in May. "It's not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous," he posted on the micro-blogging website. Chris Brown is still with us, THANK GOD (Picture: Getty)
Back in August, Breezy was the victim of a hoax in which it was claimed he had died of a seizure. And back in 2009, he was also the victim of a hoax in which it was claimed he pulverised then-girlfriend Rihanna before being forgiven by her and millions of adoring teen girl fans. Oh wait, that actually happened. Jolly good.

Chloe Moretz

When Chloe was rumoured to have died in a tragic snowboarding accident, the young actress went on a Twitter rant – slamming the individuals who had started the hoax. She mainly seemed to be cross that it wasn’t even snowing in Switzerland at the time (although it probably was snowing in the Alps, Chloe…).

Jeff Goldblum

Goldblum – famously the subject of countless death hoaxes over the years – mostly seemed to be dying of cliff falls and heart attacks in 2013.

Adam Sandler

The internet’s always killing this guy off, too. And, unable to think of anything new, Twitter said Sandler also died in a snowboarding accident.

Eddie Murphy

Yep, snowboard again. This time in August. You know how you always go snowboarding in August, right?

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne is another serial mortal coil shuffler, having ‘died’ several times this year. Unfortunately, the rapper is epileptic and it appears that every time he has a seizure, a new death rumour is sparked…

Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan is often reported to have died (Picture: AP)
Martial arts legend Jackie Chan is reported to be dead on a fairly regular basis. The latest occurrence was in October, after which he assured his concerned manager: ‘No, no… don’t worry, before I die I’ll call you.’

One of the more uncomfortable death hoaxes of the year came when rumours circulated that the 15-year-old daughter of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin had died. Stay classy, Twitter.

Devon tourist takes photo of a ‘UFO’

[caption id="attachment_9406" align="alignleft" width="300"]Out of this world: Haydn Morgan took the photo of two ‘flying saucers’ while on a ferry across the River Dart in Devon (Picture: Haydn Morgan/SWNS) Out of this world: Haydn Morgan took the photo of two ‘flying saucers’ while on a ferry across the River Dart in Devon (Picture: Haydn Morgan/SWNS)[/caption]

Once a holiday’s over, it’s nice to look back at your photos and remember the great things you saw.

But there was something alien to Haydn Morgan when he examined a picture he took during a seaside break in Devon – two flying saucers.

When he took another shot just nine seconds later, they were gone.

The former aeronautical engineer couldn’t believe his eyes, and thought there might have been something wrong with the camera. Two professional photographers insisted there wasn’t any dust on the sensor.

Describing his extra-terrestrial encounter, Mr Morgan said: ‘I was on the ferry rattling off snaps. I looked at the cloud and it looked a bit strange, so I took a couple of shots at it.

‘When I got home and put them onto my computer, one shot was perfectly clear and the other had these two dots on it.’

The tourist admitted he has been left stumped by what the UFOs could be, adding: ‘I have no idea what it is. It’s certainly not a bird of any shape or kind. When you blow the larger one up, there seems to be something in the centre.’

He also insisted: ‘I’m not a crank. I spent 27 years in the Fleet Air Arm, flying around.’

Unfortunately for Mr Morgan, the Ministry of Defence closed down its UFO investigations department four years ago

‘Pregnant’ boy, 2, gives birth to his own parasitic twin

Doctors in China were left stunned after discovering a two-year-old boy was carrying an undeveloped foetus inside his stomach.'Pregnant' boy gives birth to parasitic twinXiao Feng had to undergo an operation to ‘give birth’ to his own parasitic twin after doctors in Huaxi discovered the foetus.

The child was rushed to the operating room after arriving at hospital with a severely bloated stomach, according to The Inquisitr.

Doctors say the foetus took up two thirds of Xiao’s stomach, resulting in breathing difficulties for the child.

The unborn foetus measured 20cm in width and had also formed a spine and limbs, as well as fingers and toes.

Experts believe that the parasitic twin would have killed Xiao if it had been left untreated.

Identical twins are formed when an egg splits in half after fertilisation, but conjoined twins are formed when it fails to fully separate.

Conjoined twins can survive as ‘parasites’ but not when one is absorbed into the other twin.
