ITANAGAR: The Students' Union Movement of Arunachal (Suma) called for a boycott of Naga People's Front (NPF) in Arunachal, saying the party, 'formed in 1964 for the renaissance of Naga brotherhood,' sought only to promote their interests.
In a representation to the state chief electoral commissioner, the Suma alleged that the NPF has close ties with NSCN (I-M) and expressed apprehension that its presence in Arunachal would lead to tribal unrest besides allowing the party to exert political influence through 'militant power.'
It said the people of Arunachal should be united in opposing the NPF's entry in the greater interest of the state and its future.
