Letter from Sumi Hohos to the chairman, Cease Fire Monitoring Cell

To,
The Chairman,
Ceasefire Monitoring Cell,
Nagaland, Kohima.

Subject: Flushing out of NSCN-IM cadres from the Sumi inhabited areas.

Sir,
With due respect, the Sumi frontal organizations would like to bring to your knowledge the following lines for favour of your information and necessary action that, on the fateful night of December 21, the NSCN-IM cadres waylaid a Zunheboto bound Tata Sumi (Taxi) at Aghuito Village, some 12 kilometers away from Zunheboto and mentally and physically tortured the passengers inflicting grievous injuries and also sexually assaulted two female passengers. The two female passengers including a minor girl were forcefully made to strip and after mercilessly torturing them with stick and iron rod, molested them.
In protest against the satanic act, the Zunheboto public held a mammoth gathering rally and placed the following 3 charter of demands:
1. Resolved to urge upon the collective leadership of NSCN (IM) to hand over its cadres involved in the incident to the district administration within 3 days from the date of publication of the Resolution in the local dailies, i.e. 23rd December.
2. In the event, the NSCN (IM) failed to comply with the Resolution No.1, the rally resolved that the Sumi Community shall withdraw its cooperation and support to the NSCN (IM).
3. Resolved that no individual or organization should initiate for release or extend support to the four errant cadres while in custody of the district administration.

The Zunheboto public numbering to around 10,000 gathered in the town on December 26 expressing outrage against the non compliance of the “Charter of Demands” placed to the NSCN-IM and adopted the following Resolution:
1. The NSCN-IM failing to comply with the 3 Charter of Demands put forth by the Zunheboto Public Rally on December 22, 2013 had, as per the Resolution No. 2, declared “Non Cooperation to the NSCN-IM” with immediate effect.
2. As a part of the Non Cooperation to the NSCN-IM, the public resolved to flush out the NSCN-IM cadres in the Sumi inhabited areas including the “Mukali Designated Camp”. For which, every Sumi village shall send 25 volunteers each fully prepared with guns and machetes on the December 28 at 10 a.m. at the Zunheboto Public Ground. There shall be no limit of volunteers from Zunheboto town.
3. Any village failing to turn up at the said “Flush Out Mission” shall not get any cooperation from the Sumi people in times of tragedy in the coming days.

If only the NSCN-IM leadership complied with the very reasonable demands of the public, such confrontation could have been avoided. The Sumi frontal organizations are therefore bringing to your esteemed knowledge that should any unwanted consequences happen, the NSCN-IM be held solely responsible for their act of terrorism.
