The pro-talks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Progressive or NDFB-P on Thursday staged demonstrations across Assam demanding a separate State for the Bodos and early peace dialogue between the government and the outfit. Thousands of NDFB-P supporters took part in the demonstration in Udalguri. Intensifying its demand for creation of Bodoland and immediate peace talks, the NDFB-P oranized demonstrations near the offices of the deputy commissioners of nine districts, including the four BTAD districts of Udalguri, Kokrajhar, Baksa and Chirang. In Udalguri, over five thousand people, led by outfit president Dhiren Boro, marched from the Golma High School playground to the Bishnu Rabha Auditorium, Udalguri. After a public meeting at the Bishnu Rabha Auditorium, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Udalguri Deputy Commissioner. The NDFB-P has threatened stronger protests if the government does not accept the outfit’s demands.
